Royal Oak Automatic is one of Audemars Piguet simplest designed mens watch. It is a mechanical with automatic winding movement. It has Cotes de Geneve pattern and beveling in its movement which are hand-finished.
Its case is about 37mm in diameter with a thickness of 8.2mm. There are quite a few versions of case mixed with different colored dials. My favorite by far is the stainless steel with black dial.
It has a polished and brushed finish on its case. It uses a flat sapphire crystal. There would be the Royal Oak signature octagonal bezel that has 8 hexagonal nuts in white gold fastening through the caseback.
The crown is hexagonal in shape and screwed down. It has a black dial with Grande Tapisserie pattern and uses luminescent steel baton hands as well as luminescent baton markers. Its minute tracks are printed on the dial. It has a simple date display at 3. The bracelet is made of steel with a double fold-over clasp with safety pusher.
Other dials available are Grande Tapisserie and Petite Tapisserie patterns. There are “cosmos” blue, silvered or dark gray dials. The case also comes in yellow-gold version.
