Rotonde Cartier Chronograph Central

One of Cartier's statement timepieces must be the Rotonde Cartier Chronograph Central. This movement is crafted in-house and individually numbered, and contained within the large Rotonde case.

The most distinctive feature of the Chronographe Central is, as its name suggests, the chronograph display in the center of the dial. Underneath the chronograph display will be the hour and minute hands, cleverly hidden such that only the tips of the hands are visible. This ingenious design ensures that the hands telling the time will never obscure the chronograph.

The movement on the Chronographe Central is the manually wound Cartier Caliber 9907 MC with 35 jewels that vibrate at 28,800 times per hour. Power reserve is estimated at 50 hours.

The white gold casing is 42mm in diameter, with a height of 14.2mm. It features an 18k white gold circular-grained crown decorated with a cabochon sapphire. The face is made of sapphire crystal, and a transparent case back allows a view of the splendid movement within. Water resistance is to 30 meters. The functions are hours, minutes and chronograph.

The Rotonde Cartier Chronograph Central dial comprises a slate-grey and metal-grey satin-finish sunray motif lower dial and slate-grey guilloche upper dial held with a sapphire crystal, completed with sword-shaped blue steel hands. The band is made of black alligator skin, with an 18k white gold triple deployant adjustable buckle.
