The Patek Philippe Natutilus Ref. 5712/1A uses similar complications as its predecessor Ref. 5712/1 developed in 2005 with features of power reserve, moon phase, date and small seconds. It also uses the caliber 240 PS IRM C LU. The casing has been transformed from a two-part case in Ref. 5712/1 into a three-part case for Ref. 5712/1A where the back, caseband, and bezel are made to accommodate the sapphire crystal caseback.

This new Nautilus uses a larger case of 43mm in diameter and its subdials are seconds at 4, power reserve indicator between 10 and 11, the analog date with integrated moon-phase at 7. It uses a stainless steel case and bracelet. There are also models in white gold and rose gold using anthracite brown and charcoal dials.
