Ball Watches produced the Fireman series of watches to honor courageous man and women for their deeds. The Fireman Ionosphere Chronograph is actually their first collaboration with NASA astronaut Dr. Owen Garriott.
With his extensive space experience (launched into space as the scientist-pilot for the Skylab III mission) and also his experience on deep sea research missions and Antarctic expeditions, Ball Watch designers were able to tap into vast knowledge from Dr Garriott to achieve accuracy and precision in this professional watch.

The case is made of stainless steel with dimensions of 43mm diameter by 14.4mm thickness. It has an anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal with screw-down crown and caseback. Its water resistance can reach up to 100 meters.
Its movement is based on the automatic ETA caliber 775. Its available functions are the hours, minutes, small seconds. There are also the day and date indicators in two separate windows. Its chronograph has 3 subdials that is based on accumulated time measurement up to 12 hours; 19 micro gas tubes on the hour, minute, and second hands and the dial for night reading capability.
Price is estimated at US$1,490.
