Jean-Mairet and Gillman
From Generations of Watchmaking to Creators of Exclusive Watches

Before Jean-Mairet and Gillman started, their history tracks way back to 1766 when Jean-Henry Mairet started inventing tooling equipments for watchmaking. Even thereafter, horologist Sylvain Jean-Mairet in the 1800s created many precision timepieces as well as perfecting watch movement devices.

Further descendents like Andre Jean-Mairet continued their tradition of expertise in watchmaking when he was appointed chief of workshops in one of Switzerland’s key watchmaking schools during 1900s. Then Cesar A. Jean-Mairet (descendent of Jean Henry-Mairet) was persuaded by friends, collectors, and watchmakers to create his own range of timepieces.

In 2000, he started the Jean-Mairet and Gillman combining his paternal and maternal heritages. Their first range of collection was the Grand Voyageur. This is an automatic watch with second time zone and a mechanical alarm.

The other signature series collection is the Seven Days. This range offers seven days of power reserve and uses a manual-winding movement. Another stylish design would be the Hora Mundi. An automatic movement with 42 – 44 hours of power reserve using the JMG 1999 caliber.

It has functions covering alarm, date at 6, and a world timer on a disk. There is a choice of pink, yellow, white gold, or stainless steel for its 41mm case. The dial comes in black or white with cities indicated around the dial.

The Chronograph Alexander uses a pink, yellow, white gold or stainless steel case with 41mm diameter. This is a watch created to pay tribute to Cesar’s brother, Alexandre.

It has a power reserve of 42 – 44 hours with small second subdial in an aperture at 12 and a 45-minute counter in the center. The dial is available in silver or anthracite.

Another newer range from Jean-Mairet and Gillman was the Continentes which was introduced during Baselworld 2005. It has a 43mm square-shaped case that is made of rose gold.

The dial is skeletonized with a world map decoration on it that is represented with three retrograde time zones. It uses a transparent backdial made of sapphire crystal. Its water resistant is up to 30m.

There is a sports collection known as Sport. It has an octagonal shaped steel or titanium case with a diameter of 42mm. Its dial is in silver or ruthenium with luminescent hours and round markers.

There is a magnified date at 3. Interesting is the universal time indicator at 9. The overall look is as its name indicates sporty and modern design.

The Clement Gillman range uses the automatic JMG 1999 caliber with power reserve of 42 – 44 hours. It has alarm function, date (positioned at 4), and second time zone at 12.

Its case is made of either pink, yellow gold, white gold, or stainless steel with a diameter of 41mm. The dial is in lacquered black, white or mother pearl.

A traditional design from Jean-Mairet and Gillman would be the Grande Date. It has a 41mm round case made of either white gold, pink gold, or yellow gold. It has a Breguet styled numbers and a rhodium or pink gold arrow-shaped hands.

Its large date with two windows is positioned at 12 and a small second subdial is positioned at 6. The main dial is in either silver or black.
