IWC Da Vinci Chronograph

The unveiling of the IWC Da Vinci Chronograph in 2007 featured an elegant tonneau casing, with easy reading of stopped hours and minutes from a miniature subdial at 12, doing away with the need for separately adding up of the length of time from different subdials as with other such watches.

This timepiece houses an automatic IWC Caliber 89360. It contains 40 jewels that vibrate at 28,800 times per hour. The movement features a double-pawl automatic winding systen with a shock-proof rotor. Power reserve is estimated at 68 hours. The functions are hours, minutes; subsidiary seconds; chronograph with flyback function; and date on the subdial at 6.

The case comes in three versions, red gold, stainless steel, or a 500-pieces limited edition platinum. It is a generous 43 x 51mm, with a height of 14.4mm. The face is made of anti-reflective treated sapphire crystal, with a transparent case back allowing a view of the movement within. The crown is screwed-in, water-resistance is to 3 bar.

The IWC Da Vinci Chronograph textured white dial is contrasted with silvered subdials. In the version featured here, the stainless steel hands and markers complement the casing beautifully, adding another touch of classic elegance. The band is alligator leather with a folding clasp.
