IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Galapagos Islands Edition
The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Galapagos Islands Edition from IWC will find a following among environmentally-conscious dive enthusiasts. Heavy on corporate social responsibility, IWC has entered into a partnership with the Galapagos-based Charles Darwin Foundation that aims to highlight ecologically-friendly behavior on the archipelago. Part of the proceeds from this timepiece goes into funding the Foundation. This timepiece houses an automatic IWC Caliber 79320 (base ETA Valjoux 7750). It contains 25 jewels that vibrate at 28,800 times per hour. Power reserve is estimated at 44 hours when fully wound. The functions are hours, minutes; subsidiary seconds; chronograph; date and day at 3.

The stainless steel casing is coated with vulcanized rubber, giving it an entirely matte black appearance, resembling the lava on Galapagos. It is 44mm in diameter, with a height of 15mm. There is a rotating bezel with 60-minute divisions. The face is made of anti-reflective treated sapphire crystal. The crown is screwed-in, water-resistance is to 12 bar. The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Galapagos Islands Edition matte black dial is contrasted with bold white-accented hands and indexes that are coated with a luminescent coating to ease legibility in dark conditions underwater. The bezel is black with also a bold white coloring through to the first quarter, with luminescent elements as well. The band is black rubber with a buckle.
