The British Masters SA
Graham

George Graham was known as the “Father of Chronograph” due to his invention of the chronograph movement. Dating back to the 1700s, he was one of the greatest British horologist from his various inventions and cutting edge technology.

Some of his greatest inventions that affected the progress of horology in the world are the cylinder escapement, mercurial pendulum, the chronograph, and the minute repeater.

Today, the brand has continued its legacy since 1997 through the dedication of The British Masters SA who is determined to bring back the legacies of Britain’s greatest horologers.

The other brand under their flagship is Arnold & Sons. The British Masters was focused on putting chronograph function in the majority of the brand’s watches.

In 1998, the first monumental timepiece was created to pay tribute to George Graham. It was known as Foudroyante chronograph, which was the world’s first chronograph to achieve a 1/8th of second split-second. There is also a crown-operated coaxial flyback mechanism, 42 hours power reserve as well as water resistance up to 160 feet.

Thereafter the Chronofighter Classic was unveiled in 2000 which attracted many collectors’ attention because of its design and technical instruments. This mens watch was inspired by the watches used by British Royal Air Force pilots during World War II.

It has a large release lever on the left side of the watch. This is meant to allow the pilots to release their chronograph function (start and stop) fast using their right thumb at altitude of 8000 meters. The other collection under Chronofighter is the Chronofighter Stick.

Silverstone was the next range of collection with dedication to motor enthusiasts. It still possess the chronograph function with a round case (inspired by Formula One racing) and checkered 30-minute subdial inspired by the checkered flags in motorcar racing.

It has a GMT reading off the center of the dial and a flyback function. Check out the other Silverstone collection that is one of its kind: Silverstone Professional 3 Tachymeter.

Another fascinating Aeroflyback collection is the Aeroflyback Telemeter. This is a triple telemeter base on 3 different temperatures (that is the chronograph hand is released when phenomenon is seen and stopped when sound is heard and the distance shown on the scale should be the distance from the observer).

Usually this is used to gauge the distance a thunderstorm is away. Other Aeroflyback is the Aeroflyback Black and Gray Dial.

The MasterSplit also caught the attention of many collectors. It has a wealth of functions with a central split-second, a tachymeter, a telemeter, and chronograph function with two counters. Its power reserve is up to 52 hours.
