FP Journe – Invenit et Fecit
FP Journe attaches philosophy in Latin motto, Invenit et Fecit, which means “Invented and Made”. He has been studying from School of Watchmaking in Paris and graduated in 1976. He worked in his uncle’s shop and restored antique watches for private collectors. In 1978, he created his first tourbillon watch at the tender age of 20 years old.
Nine years later he built a new Sympathique pendulum clock for the house of John Asprey in London. Within the same year, he was awarded “Foundation de la Vocation Bleustein-Blanchet”.
From then onwards, he was widely sought after by many luxury watch houses to collaborate new designs and collection. He decided to start his own manufacturing company in Switzerland to meet the demands from these watch houses to create exclusive movements.
In 1999, Journe introduced his outstanding range of watches under two collections: Souveraine and Octa. Within these collections there are many world’s first time models like the Tourbillon Souverain. It has a constand energy release remontoir system that controls and maintains precision and accuracy for the tourbillon watch.
Below is the New Tourbillon Souverain introduced in 2003 where it retains the similar constant-force device system. It has added an interesting second system for the new model. The second counter at 6 is “dead beat” which means that the second hand will indicate only when the second has elapsed, otherwise it will stay motionless.

Another Souverain with an amazing movement is Chronometre A Resonance. This is the very first wristwatch that runs on two movements through synchronized balances in two independent balance-wheels to achieve a steady state of frequency and hence ultimate precision.
Sonnerie Souveraine Unique Piece is a retrograde under the Souverain collection with dual sonnerie (grand and petite) as well as a minute repeater and power reserve. It runs on FP Journe 1996 caliber that is original and definitely a world exclusive design.
From year 2000 onwards, a lot of attention was put on the Octa range of collection. He added in the new collections an automatic rewinding system with 5 days power reserve.
In 2002, he was awarded the honor of “Grand Prix d’Hologerie de Geneve” for his creation of Octa Calendrier.
Then in 2003 he was once again awarded for the same honor for his latest Octa Lune model.

This mens watch is fully produced by FP Journe himself. It uses a 22k gold rotor that has guilloche engine-turned pattern. Besides the 120 hours power reserve, it also has a moonphase indication located at 7, off-centered hour and minute dial at 3, as well as a two window display date at 11.

Octa Reserve de Marche
