De Witt is a young company but their involvement with watches tracks back to 1804 when Napoleon family great interest in collecting pocket watches, wrist watches, and table clocks.
From then on, this avid collection hobby continued from generations down until it reached Jerome Napoleon De Witt, the fifth generation descendent of King Jerome (Napoleon’s brother).
He began to explore the possibilities of putting together traditional art and spirit of swiss watch making with the most innovative techniques available now. So he began the company in 1999 where their workshop is located in Vandoeuvres in Geneva and it was in 2000 that their watch collections were introduced.
They have a strong philosophy that only limited edition pieces are produced because every timepiece are the presentation of their highest quality produced by the same master watchmaker from start till end.
Furthermore, every timepiece is signed off by the watchmaker to ascertain his pride in its quality.
It was in 2003 that the company presented more of their outstanding timepieces for the first time at the Basel World Watch and Jewelry Show.
They also presented the Premiere Mondiale which is a grand complication with perpetual calendar, minute repeater, tourbillon, retrograde date, retrograde hours, and split-second chronograph.
Below is 2004 version of the Premiere Grande known as Pressy Grande Complication 2004. This is an exceptional piece of art that has only 5 pieces produced where it is numbered from 1 to 5. It has a mechanical movement with minute repeater, tourbillon, chronograph with flyback hand, lifting lever and bi-retrograde perpetual calendar. It also has a 48 hour power reserve.
