Founded in 1908 in Bienne, Switzerland, the Concord Watch Company began its focus on the niche market of luxury watches.
It produced beautiful jewelry watches through the combination of its technical expertise and the use of platinum with precious gemstones like diamond, rubies, and emeralds.
In 1969, the company was bought over by a businessman, Gedalio Grinberg and incorporated it into North American Watch Corporation in New York.
This company today is known as Movado Group, Inc. This was a major turn around for Concord because many new outstanding designs and collection were launched from then on.
They produced the world’s thinnest watch in 1979 and it was called Delirium. It was a quartz watch that only measured 1.98mm thick and this became news worldwide which propelled the company’s brand name.
Another groundbreaking attempt was made again in 1980 with Delirium IV. It was a world record for the thinnest watch that measured a mere 0.98mm.
The next big thing was the Saratoga, a Mariner sports watch introduced in 1980. It has a unique octagonal bezel that was a signature leading to its worldwide recognition.

After its great success, the company launched the second collection of Saratoga in 1995 known as Saratoga Exor. The difference they made this time was adding on technical prowess and aesthetic creations.
There were three versions produced: Perpetual Calendar, Minute Repeater, and a Tourbillon. All the Exors were laced with precious gemstones making them the most expensive watches then.
In 1997, the La Scala collection for women were launched and in 2001, the La Scala Chronograph which included for the men.
The other La Scala collection worth looking at is the La Scala Tonneau.
The company continued to take this collection into various styling over the years especially adding gems to create a refreshing feel toward the collection.
