Chronometer Jules Audemars
Unveiled at the 2009 S.I.H.H. in Geneva, the Chronometer Jules Audemars from Audemars Piguet sent many hearts racing with its ultra performance and exclusive price tag. Featuring a balance that vibrates at the adrenaline-pumping frequency of 43,200 vph, it happens to be almost twice as fast as most movements in the market, and hence contains a patented AP high frequency escapement with two counter-rotating balance springs that omits the use of lubricant.

Chronometer Jules Audemars uses the manually wound AP Caliber 2908 containing 34 jewels. The power reserve is estimated at 56 hours and water-resistance to 20m. The 950 platinum case is 46mm in diameter and has a height of 12.64mm. Both the face and back are made of sapphire crystal, and this transparent back allows viewing of the powerhouse movement within. The functions are hours and minutes, subsidiary seconds; and power reserve display at 8. The unique design is accentuated by the off-center display of hours and minutes at 12, on an enamel white dial with black Roman numerals. The hands are dark blue, even for the seconds subdial at 6 which also proudly adorns the brand. The band is black reptile skin with a folding clasp, giving the watch a classic look.
