Ballon Bleu de Cartier Flying Tourbillon is the first watch from Cartier to bear the Geneva Seal hallmark representing its movement's precision, reliability and beauty. This watch uses the 9452 MC caliber that is a mechanical movement with manual winding. It has 142 parts with 19 jewels within the movement. Its flying tourbillon has a C-shaped index that indicates the seconds.

The movement has a diameter of 10 and 3/4 lines with a depth of 4.5mm. It vibrates at 21,600 per hour and has a power reserve of 50 hours. The tourbillon's uniqueness is its placement between the bridges and main plate so that it seems the tourbillon is "flying" over them. It needs good shock resistance to ensure that the tourbillon is stable and secured.
The case is made of 18 carat pink gold with a diameter of 46mm. Its circular grained crown is set with a sapphire cabochon. It uses sapphire crystal for both front and the caseback.
The dial is made of galvanized slate-colored guilloche patterns with sun-ray open-worked grid with Roman numerals. Its central hands are sword-shaped and blue steel hands. It uses brown alligator strap with dual adjustment folding clasp in 18 carat pink gold.
