The stainless steel case is 43mm in diameter with a height of 15.8mm. It has knurled screw-in crowns and a screw-down anti-reflective case back engraved with the Center for Severe Weather Research. The face is made of anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The bezel of this timepiece features a tachymeter scale, and includes a telemeter scale so that speed and distance of moving objects can be easily determined. The main functions are hours, minutes, subsidiary seconds; chronograph; date and day at 3. 18 of Ball's unique micro gas tubes on the hands and dial eases readability even in the darkest of storms. Truly reliable in harsh conditions, this watch is shock-resistant to 5,000Gs and water-resistant to 100m. A calfskin or stainless steel bracelet work equally well in rounding up the contemporary style.
