The year that Adolph Lange was born is exactly represented in the name of this watch, 1815. Though a simple and understated design, the intrinsic value lies within its movement.
It is a mechanical and manual winding watch with 45 hours of power reserve when fully wound. It uses a shock-proof screw balance executing 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour.
There is also a patented whiplash precision index adjuster that allows small incremental adjustment of the watch’s beat or timing. This device avoids the need to remove the balance wheel.
The plate of the caliber has the Glashutte polishing and beveling (a linear decoration made from rotating grinding wheels to create slight inclined and parallel running lines). The edges of its movement are all polished and chamfered.
The 1815 case comes in yellow-gold, pink-gold, and platinum. Its diameter is about 35.9mm and uses a flat sapphire crystal including the transparent caseback revealing the movement within.
The main dial is white and the small seconds sub-dial at 6 is solid silver. There are printed Arabic numerals as well as railway minute track around the dial.
Platinum and yellow-gold cases use blue steel argente hands for central hands but pink-gold case uses pink-gold argente hands. All the different sub-dials use the blue steel hands.
The straps are hand-stitched crocodile leather that gives it a very strong finishing. The buckle uses the same metal scheme as the case.
